During a meeting with General Mohamed Tantawi, former IAEA chief Dr.Mohamed ElBaradei (pic)  announced in a statement that the Supreme Council was conscious of the people’s most pressing demands which included abolishing the emergency law, releasing detainees, and creating a presidential council.

Economic recovery, security issues, and the continued instability around Tahrir Square were also high on the discussion list.


The Noble Peace Prize Laureate along with Amr Mousa the Arab League's secretary-general  reiterated calls for holding a presidential election ahead of parliamentary elections, stating  that Tantawi agreed to look into the possibility. 
Responding to the issue of Tahrir Square, ElBaradei maintained that that protests will end once Shafiq's unwanted government departs and a transitional government installed.

According to ElBaradei the meeting was positive, he highlighted that many issues were discussed, asserting that the military was aware of the current problems.
