EU Credibility Rocked by Qatari Corruption Scandal, FMs Warn
European Parliament officials were lavished cash and gifts from Qatar to influence internal decision-making, German and Irish FMs said, claiming "It is damaging. We need to get to the bottom of it."
Eva Kaili, a vice president in the European Parliament (pictured above), was one among four people arrested in Belgium following raids on 16 houses and the seizure of 600,000 euros as part of an investigation into "criminal organisation, money laundering and corruption."
"This is an unbelievable incident which has to be cleared up completely with the full force of law," urged German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, "This is about the credibility of Europe."

Due to Kaili being targeted in an ongoing corruption investigation, the EU Parliament has voted overwhelmingly in support of terminating her from office.
