War Games between US & America to Intimidate Iran?

_______________________________

Israel is preparing for war with Iran

▪️ Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that Iran is weeks away from obtaining the material needed to build a nuclear weapon. He noted that the development of Iranian ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles and other military technology have reached the point where an urgent response is needed.

▪️ In this regard, the Israel Defense Forces exercise will begin on May 29 and will last one month. All units of the armed forces, including reserve formations, will be involved.

▪️ The purpose of the exercise is to simulate war with Iran and proxy formations in Syria and Lebanon, as well as countering terrorist groups in Israeli territory. The scenario of air strikes against Iranian nuclear and military facilities will also be practiced.

▪️ Characteristically, in planning a direct confrontation, the Israeli leadership took into account the strict need for direct U.S. involvement and the availability of their advanced weapon systems on Israeli territory.

▪️ However, Washington is certainly not ready to support the Israelis yet: the Biden administration is in another "advanced" stage of negotiations on the nuclear deal with Iran. At the moment, getting involved in another conflict against the backdrop of confrontation with Russia and China is fraught with consequences in the form of a new round of economic crisis.

▪️ In order to change the mind of the American government, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz went to Washington. He intends to hold talks on the "Iranian threat" with his American counterpart Floyd Austin and Jake Sullivan, the US president's national security advisor.

🔻 It is unlikely that the White House is now planning to go to war with Iran. Both for the U.S. and for the rest of the world, such a scenario would mean another jump in oil prices, which would have an even greater impact on inflation.

But the Israeli leadership will try to make the most of the current situation. They will focus on the precariousness of Iran's real positions in order to force the U.S. to abandon the nuclear deal.

The Israelis will try to bluff Iran's tough negotiating position in order to cover the acute socio-economic problems that are already manifesting themselves in the form of nationwide protests in the Islamic republic.

Protest in the Village of Nabi Saleh, Palestine.

Today, the villagers of Nabi Saleh took creative non-violent action against the Israeli forces that violently suppress their weekly Friday protest. As they awaited a decision regarding the suspension of the Israeli football association from FIFA, the residents marched down the road holding up red cards and playing football. The occupation forces responded with sound grenades and tens of rounds of tear gas. The villagers were undeterred and returned to their game of football after the affects of the gas had worn off. The protest was in solidarity with the Palestinian footballers who are subjected to discriminative restrictions by Israel.

Netanyahu and Jonathan

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, praised President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday, after Nigeria pulled a last-minute surprise that helped thwart a resolution calling for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory by 2017.
The resolution, presented to the United Nations for approval, called for new talks based on territorial lines that existed before Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in 1967.
The proposal was the culmination of three months of campaigning by the Palestinians at the UN, and was backed by 22 envoys from Arab states.
The Palestinians required nine votes from 15 permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Nigeria is currently one the 10 non-permanent members, with its tenure expiring in 2015. Chad and Rwanda are the other African members.
But Palestine received eight votes, short of one, during the vote which took place 11pm Nigerian time.
The United States and Australia voted against the resolution, while Russia, China, France, Luxembourg, Jordan, Argentina, Chile and Chad voted for the resolution.
Nigeria, Britain, South Korea, Rwanda and Lithuania abstained.
Nigeria’s role stood out because until shortly before the vote, diplomats had expected the resolution to get nine “yes” votes, with Nigeria believed to be in support.
But at the last minute, Nigeria’s envoy, Joy Ogwu, abstained from voting, echoing the position of the United States that the ultimate path to peace between Israel and Palestine lies “in a negotiated solution”.
Regardless of whether Palestine received nine votes, the resolution still stood no chance as U.S. would have deployed its veto powers as a permanent member to block it.
But analysts believe the U.S. sought to avoid that scenario as it would have angered Arab allies who are currently supporting a US-led international coalition against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, ISIS.
To save the U.S. from that awkward position, its Secretary of States, John Kerry, reached out to Nigeria to help block the move, the Times of Israel reported.
After the vote, U.S. envoy, Samantha Power, said “We voted against this resolution not because we are comfortable with the status quo. We voted against it because… peace must come from hard compromises that occur at the negotiating table.”
The Prime Minister, Mr. Netanyahu, also said he personally spoke to President Jonathan and received his assurance of support.
“I would like to voice appreciation and thanks to the United States and Australia, and also special appreciation for the president of Rwanda, my friend Paul Kagame, and the president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. I spoke with both of them. They told me and promised me, personally, that they would not support this resolution. They kept their word, and that’s what clinched this matter. I think this is very important for the state of Israel,” Mr. Netanyahu said.
Some Israeli media hailed the cordial relations between Mr. Jonathan and Mr. Netanyauhu, with the Times of Israel recalling how President Jonathan visited Israel during his last pilgrimage with a 20-member delegation, and how Mr. Netanyahu condoled with Nigeria after the Kano Mosque blast that killed more than 100 people.
Nigeria’s position on the complex Israel and Palestine issue has been that of neutrality for years, in the belief that any decision must be attained through negotiations.
Nigeria has maintained that policy in what analysts believe is informed by the government’s sensitivity to many factors including, not wanting to be seen as supporting Palestine’s Hamas, or opposing the United States.
A major factor also is the religious angle back home, with many Nigerian Muslims supporting Palestine, while there is also the Christianity affiliation between Nigeria and Israel.

Israeli crimes - Getting away with it for over 60 years

The people of Gaza must suffer from serial déjà vu. Another Israeli invasion, yet more death and destruction, flattened urban quarters and above all hundreds of innocent civilians killed. Yet so much of the media reporting might suggest this was the first time it had ever happened.
The massacres of 500-700 Palestinian civilians in Khan Younis in took place during the first Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip on Nov. 3, 1956. According to the BBC’s Middle East Editor, Jeremy Bowen, there was one family that lost 21 members.
Fast forward to the first day of the second Israel occupation on June 6, 1967, and Bowen cites the 28 young men from the Abu Rass family from the Zaytoun district in Gaza who were captured and just executed. To show Israel’s consistency 23 members of the Al Samouni family were killed in 2009, one of many extended families to be suffer mass losses. In this current aggression at least 20 members of one were killed in Khan Younis on 20 July. Are Israeli soldiers unaware that this unarmed civilian population are ‘protected persons’ under International humanitarian law?
The United Nations has also been a regular target for Israeli bombing rarely missing out on a pounding. Are Israeli forces not aware that U.N. buildings should enjoy immunity? There have been Israeli shelling of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) schools and health centres including ona school in Beit Hanoun on July 24. Go back to 1967, one finds that the headquarters of the United Nations Expeditionary Force was bombed in Gaza and 90 of UNRWA’s 100 schools were damaged in the fighting. On Jan. 152009 the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) was bombed. Israel also targeted a U.N. compound at Qana in Lebanon in April 1996 killing 106.
An Israeli speciality is bombing power stations. On July29, it put Gaza’s sole power station out of action. In fact Israel had hit the station twice in the week before as well but much of the reporting could not even delve that far back. Very few indeed noted that Israel had bombed this same plant in 2006 and in 2009. Moreover, it did the same to a power plant in southern Beirut in 2006. Power plants are civilian infrastructure and their destruction is possibly a war crime.
But what gets under the skin of so many is that whilst the Assad regime is sanctioned and condemned, Israel is lauded, protected and given a multi-billion dollar annual sponsorship deal with the United States.
Chris Doyle
Historical crimes are barely reported in media coverage. Audiences may not be aware at all that 70 per cent of Palestinians in Gaza are refugees or about how they got there. Do they know that Sderot, the target of many rocket attacks from Gaza, is built on the lands of the Palestinian village of Najd, whose villagers were expelled in 1948? Some 400,000 civilians are told to move from areas of Gaza, to where Israel does not say, forcing yet another mass displacement of Palestinians.
The obvious question is how come Israel has got away with all this and much more.
A major issue is accountability or more accurately the breath-taking total lack of it. This goes to the heart of the issue as to how Israel is viewed as it is across the Arab and broader Islamic World. The scale of Israeli atrocities pales in comparison with those of many other regimes. Over 1700 Syrians were killed last week alone, the worst week of the entire Syrian uprising but barely rated a media mention.
But what gets under the skin of so many is that whilst the Assad regime is sanctioned and condemned, Israel is lauded, protected and given a multi-billion dollar annual sponsorship deal with the U.S.. Nearly every Arab knows Israel has violated countless United Nations Security Council Resolutions but also that the U.S. has vetoed (42) or threatened to veto countless other resolutions. Why, they ask, is Israel untouchable?
The issue is brought into sharper contrast with the outrage over Russia, Ukraine and Crimea. Western nations demanded Russia end its occupation of Crimea, but do not say the same over Gaza and the West Bank. Putin’s aggression has been confronted immediately with escalating sanctions. Not only is Israel not faced with sanctions but these are specifically ruled out. In contrast western powers sanction Palestine and Palestinians.
Unlike Israel, Hamas is held to account for its crimes of deliberately rocketing civilians. The international community sanctions Hamas and many countries designate it as a terrorist group. Israel metes out its own instant ‘justice’ usually with a one tonne bomb.
What will be the impact on Israel? According to Gerard Horton from Military Court Watch: "The danger is Israel will sleep walk into pariah status if it is seen to remain above the law." Horton tells me that Israel is "operating in a parallel universe, a completely different set of principles seem to apply to this conflict."
Attempts to hold Israel to account have always failed. Notoriously the U.N. investigation into the 2008-2009 Gaza conflict commonly known as the Goldstone report, found both Israel and Hamas guilty of war crimes. Israel and the U.S. orchestrated such a backlash to ensure the commission’s findings were ignored. The U.N. Human Rights Council is mounting another inquiry even though opposed by the U.S. given the saving of Goldstone expectations that it will be respected must be slim. President Abbas may, indeed should, apply for membership of International Criminal Court as the only way to provide protection to his people, but the U.S. has already made clear the torrent of punitive measures such a move would trigger.
If the international community does not hold Israel to account, there is a distinct possibility of increasing private lawsuits and more Boycott Divestment Campaigns. Israel fears delegitimisation but its actions fuel exactly that process. International leaders should demand accountability for Israel’s sake as well as the overriding objective of ensuring that such horror never befalls Gaza again as it has not least in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1987, 2006, 2009, 2012, and 2014.

Israeli admits 13 elite soldiers killed in Gaza

The latest fatalities bring to 18 the number of Israeli troops killed in Gaza since Thursday. Israel admitted on Sunday that 13 soldiers of its elite Golani Brigade have been killed in battles with Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip.
JERUSALEM

"Since last night, 13 soldiers from the Golani Brigades were killed while fighting Hamas terrorists in Gaza," the Israeli army said on its official twitter account.
Golani Brigade commander, Colonel Raslan Alian, was seriously wounded during fighting in Gaza on Saturday and evacuated for medical treatment.
The latest fatalities bring to 18 the number of Israeli troops killed since Israel launched its ground incursion into the blockaded Gaza Strip on Thursday.
Since July 7, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip, home to some 1.8 million Palestinians, with crippling air and naval bombardments with the ostensible aim of halting rocket fire emanating from the strip.
At least 425 Palestinians have been killed and 3008 injured in the unrelenting Israeli attacks.
Israel's military operation, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge," is the self-proclaimed Jewish state's third major offensive against Gaza in the last six years.

Australia removes ‘occupied’ from East Jerusalem

AFP, Sydney Friday, 6 June 2014 Australia has decided to remove the term “occupied” when referring to East Jerusalem in a move blasted by an opposition party leader Friday as “inflammatory” and “at odds with the peace process.”

The issue flared in the upper house Senate this week with Attorney-General George Brandis issuing a statement to clarify Canberra’s stance on the controversial question of the legality of settler homes.

“The description of areas which are the subject of negotiations in the course of the peace process by reference to historical events is unhelpful,” he said in the statement Thursday.

“The description of East Jerusalem as ‘occupied’ East Jerusalem is a term freighted with pejorative implications which is neither appropriate nor useful.

“It should not and will not be the practice of the Australian government to describe areas of negotiation in such judgmental language.”

He added that Canberra supported a peaceful solution to the dispute “which recognizes the right of Israel to exist peacefully within secure borders and also recognizes the aspiration to statehood of the Palestinian people.”

Israel’s army seized the West Bank, including Arab east Jerusalem, in the Six-Day War of 1967.

It later annexed the entire eastern sector, in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.

Brandis sparked a heated debate on Wednesday evening in the Senate when he stated that no Australian government of either political persuasion “acknowledges or accepts” the use of the word “occupied.”

A number of senators disagreed, pointing out that Australia had voted in support of U.N. resolutions in 2011 and 2012 where such language was used to describe the East Jerusalem settlements.

Independent senator Nick Xenophon suggested that dropping the term “occupied” would represent a “massive shift” in Australia’s foreign policy, Australian Associated Press reported.

The leader of the Australian Greens Christine Milne Friday called it “an outrageous backdown” by the Tony Abbott-led government.

“It is inflammatory behavior and at odds with the peace process,” she said in a statement.

“The use of the term ‘Occupied Palestinian Territories’ is the accepted term used by the U.N.

“The Israeli settlements built after 1967 are illegal. The settlements contravene the Fourth Geneva Convention.”

Israel's espionage activities in US are increasingly angering US government.

Published on 6 May 2014 | That's according to a report by Newsweek magazine. Senior intelligence officials have reportedly told Congress that Israeli's spying operations are going too far. The intelligence assessments were given in confidential briefings to a number of congressional committees dealing with proposed legislation that would lower visa restrictions on Israeli citizens seeking to enter the United States. The intelligence officials reportedly told Congress that Israel spies on the U-S under the cover of trade missions or as part of joint defense technology agreements. U-S officials reportedly called the extent of Israeli espionage activities shocking, far exceeding similar activities by any other close allies.

Sectarian Warfare and America’s New Colonialism

useuflags
The strategy is to divide and turn societies against themselves using sectarianism, tribalism, religion, by any and every means to prevent the emergence of steadfast and organized political alternatives
The displacement of millions in Syria , victims of the sectarian warfare of salafists and mercenaries directly supported by the USA, UK, France and  most NATO powers assisted on the ground actively by  the governments of Saudi Arabia , Turkey , Jordan among others in the region has resulted in once again a serioius humanitarian crisis including for the Palestinian people in refugee camps in Syria and Lebanon ,  who are the oldest refugees in the Arab world , traumatized for more than half a century whose living conditions were already abysmal . Today they face destitution , hunger and starvation  along with others similarly displaced .
Niloufur Bhagwat right
While the sectarian war rages in Syria and has spread to Lebanon , the Egyptian military government along with Israel has laid siege to Gaza , demolishing tunnels which were essential supply routes to the Palestinian people in Gaza,  already facing a serious humanitarian crisis as evidenced by the report submitted by the UN  Human Rights Commission Special rapporteur.
There is no justification for the  crack down now announced by the Egyptian government with a turn out of only  28 % of the Egyptian electorate  in the referendum on the Constitution drawn up by the military , n on Hamas one of the Palestinian liberation organizations , which has been elected in Gaza , recalling similar anti-Palestinian strategies of the earlier dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak which also had the support of the military . It is time that the  Arab street  understands  that some governments in the region are in fact collaborating with Israel against their own people, the Palestinian people and their national liberation struggle .
Sectarian warfare is a strategy for destroying the Arab and their homelands, by those who seek to pillage the resources of the Arab peoples using as surrogates and agents  some governments of  the region , who are old and new collaborators of  NATO , which is a military pact with openly announced colonial objectives for control of resource rich strategic regions of the world . This is colonial policy for restructuring and re-division of several regions of Asia , Africa and Latin America with  governments having over powering ambitions to impose regional hegemony adjuncts to NATO policy in these regions .
The ideological justification for the ” New Colonialism ” commenced with the Project for the New American Century and  the justification for revival of  the new  “Anglosphere ” Empire furnished by ideologues of the New Labour Party  headed by Tony Blair,  and by  the French elite among others in Europe , faced with one of the most serious financial collapses in world history.
This Imperial alliance has manipulated  International politics for more than four hundred years .” Its companies , empires , states and nations colonized and industrialized large swathes of the planet and moved millions of inhabitants often by force . They also acted as the market and lender of last resort , the guardian of the reserve currency and the bulkwark against various revisionists and revolutions .”(  Srdjan Vucet –The Anglosphere: A Geneology of a Racial Identity in International Relations)
The strategy is to divide and turn societies against themselves using sectarianism, tribalism, religion, by  any and every means to prevent the emergence of steadfast and organized  political alternatives,   with the capacity to  retain the surpluses of their own societies for the development of their wokring people  and for their society as a whole . The strategy is   to enable powers external to the region to mop and seize  the  resources surpluses and markets ,  which is what we are witnessing in Iraq, in Syria, in Lebanon, in Egypt, in  Palestine, in Africa among other regions, which is the ” New Colonization ” .
In the context of the aforesaid  Geneva Conference II , does not seek to address the real issue , or the issue of the starvation and destitution of millions of Syrians and Palestinians , even as the United Nations is guilty of using the organization as a cover for what is naked aggression by some NATO powers  in Africa, Asia and Latin America, individually or in partnerships , with secret pacts for resource seizure , even as these continents are targeted for occupation , aggression and destruction of its nation states and societies for the  new colonial partitioning and restructuring by NATO and the G 7 ,  of which the erstwhile  Partition of India was an example , and  a manipulated  religious divide was fostered by the very colonial power who benefited from the division of the Indian subcontinent in Imperial interests .
Without  a serious political dialogue in the Arab world among other regions targeted for colonial seizure , to isolate all political elements allied with Imperial interests and their adjuncts in the region , the lives of millions are at stake. Organizations floated by Western funding and foundations are no substitute for political organizations of the working people of regions targeted for colonization . In the meanwhile  Citizens of NATO governments and the G 7 powers   face loss  their livelihoods and of every social security,  even as they are indifferent to these projects for colonization , as NATO garrisons and the G 7  will need their national finances and budgets for these continous wars , including for the control and  laundering of the drug trade into collapsing  North American and European banks and financial institutions .
Every country in Asia , Latin America and Africa  and in former East Europe  will be targeted it its own turn , and this includes the emerging powers and members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The International political, economic and social order has collapsed,  and a new one is not in sight .

US report confirms Israel has at least 80 nuclear warheads

View of the Israeli nuclear facility in the Negev Desert outside Dimona

A newly released report in a US professional journal confirms that the Israeli regime possesses at least 80 operative nuclear warheads and has enough material to produce up to 190 more.

The report published in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, nuclear weapon proliferation experts Robert Norris and Hans Kristensen estimate that Israel halted its production of nuclear warheads back in 2004 “once it reached around 80 munitions,” RT reports Monday.

However, the experts add, the Tel Aviv regime “can easily double its arsenal since it has enough fissile material to build at least another 115 bombs.”

  • “There are rumors that Israel is equipping some of its submarines with nuclear-capable cruise missiles,” the report says, echoing the 2013 Stockholm International Peace Research Institute Yearbook on Armament and International Security, which also implied that the Israeli regime may have nuclear-capable submarine-launched cruise missiles and reported the same assessment of nuclear stockpiles.

It is still not known how many nuclear warheads of the total inventory could already be deployed, as Israel continues to maintain its long-held policy of nuclear ambiguity, under which it never confirms nor denies its possession of nuclear and other Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).

In December 2012, Tel Aviv once again dismissed the latest demand from the members of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to join the accord.

The suspicions about Israeli nuclear warheads were fueled by the fact that Germany supplied Israel with five Dolphin-class submarines, which are supposedly capable of launching nuclear missiles, and signed a contract to build yet another one.

Israeli regime’s stockpiles of WMD have come under particular scrutiny following the US-Russian recent agreement for the destruction of Syrian chemical weapons, which is seen as a significant step towards a WMD-free region.

This is while Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar al-Jaafari also stated last Thursday that “The main danger of WMD is the Israeli nuclear arsenal,” stressing that the Tel Aviv regime also possesses chemical weapons but “nobody is speaking about that.”

The Syrian envoy further described his country’s chemical weapons as “a mere deterrence against the Israeli nuclear arsenal” and other WMD, referring to a declassified CIA report on Israel's chemical weapons program.

Moreover, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday: “It's well known that Syria has a certain arsenal of chemical weapons and the Syrians always viewed that as an alternative to Israel's nuclear weapons.”

This is while recently declassified CIA documents suggest that the Israeli regime secretly built up its own stockpile of chemical and biological weapons decades ago, adding more fuel to the lingering complaint of Arab states, who constantly accuse Tel Aviv of possessing nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, during a speech on Sunday before talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu said that "in any case, Israel must be poised and ready to defend itself, by itself, against any threat - and this capability and readiness are more important now than ever."
