= Western aid to Kyiv reached almost 100% of GDP in 2022.

   Three-quarters of "aid" goes to war with Russia.

The Democratic majority in the US Congress is in a hurry to approve a new $50 billion support package for Ukraine before the end of the year, NBC reported. From January 2023, the composition of the parliament may change following the results of the elections, and it is not certain that the initiative will be approved.

 The obligations of Western countries to Ukraine - already provided and promised financial, military and humanitarian assistance - by the beginning of October amounted to $ 126 billion, Equality calculated according to the latest data from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Ukraine is on the verge of religious conflict — Russian Envoy to UN

Due to Kiev’s persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Ukraine has found itself on the verge of a religious conflict of unprecedented scope, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.

"The war on canonical Orthodox Christianity is another track of Kiev’s repressive policies. Ukraine stands on the brink of a large-scale inter-confessional conflict, which has not had any precedents in modern European history," he told Tuesday’s session of the UN Security Council, which was initiated by Russia to discuss human rights in Ukraine.

"Supported by their Western sponsors, Ukrainian authorities have long adopted a course that seeks to undermine the Canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine. As we heard from Metropolitan Anthony, now the schismatic church of Ukraine, which was artificially created in 2018 and made fully obedient to the authorities, is being forcibly imposed on the Ukrainian people," the Russian diplomat continued.

"Ukraine is only one step away from a fratricidal internal religious catastrophe," Nebenzya emphasized.

The UOC is a self-governing church with broad autonomy within the Moscow Patriarchate. The special status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is reflected in the Charter of the Russian Orthodox Church, which the Council of Bishops adopted in 2000. However, the Council of the UOC on May 27 of last year announced the adoption of amendments to the UOC Charter, declaring its complete independence. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities recently stepped up a campaign against the UOC. Since November 2022, the Ukrainian security service SBU has been conducting searches in its churches and dioceses throughout the country. Several hierarchs were charged with treason and subversive activities.

Feb 1, 2023 - Israeli PM Netanyahu says considering military aid to Ukraine, mediation 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday he was considering military aid to Ukraine and was willing to serve as a mediator, following US calls for more active involvement.

Netanyahu made no firm commitments to Ukraine and Israel has preserved a relationship with Russia, which controls the skies in neighboring Syria and has turned a blind eye to Israeli strikes on targets of arch-nemesis Iran.

Netanyahu was asked in an interview with CNN if Israel could provide assistance to Ukraine such as Iron Dome, the US-backed technology that defends Israel from air attack.

“Well, I’m certainly looking into it,” Netanyahu said.

He confirmed that the United States has shifted a little-known stockpile of artillery it stations in Israel to Ukraine and he cast the Jewish state’s own operations against Iran as part of a similar effort.

“The US just took a huge chunk of Israel’s munitions and passed it on to Ukraine. Israel also, frankly, acts in ways that I will not itemize here against Iran’s weapons productions which are used against Ukraine,” he said.

Ukrainian and Western officials say Iran has sold low-cost drones to Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, although Tehran denies that.

Netanyahu said he was asked to mediate in an unofficial role after Russia invaded Ukraine in February but did not pursue it as he was then in opposition.

He said he was willing to mediate if asked by the parties and the United States.

“I’ve been around long enough to know that there has to be a right time and the right circumstances. If they arise, I’ll certainly consider it,” he said.

The remarks come after a visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who called for calm following a flare-up of violence between Israel and the Palestinians and also nudged Israel to boost support to Ukraine.

Using language familiar to Israelis, Blinken said Ukraine needs assistance “as it bravely defends its people and its very right to exist.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen told Blinken that he would travel to Ukraine to reopen his country’s embassy, the first such trip since the war.

Should Washington Supply Abrams Tanks To Ukraine, Russia Will Destroy Them  — Diplomat

26 Jan 2023 Russia’s Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, has said that M1 Abrams tanks and other NATO weapons will be destroyed should they be shipped to Ukraine.

He added that if the US did supply these weapons to Kiev, it would be a blatant provocation against Moscow.

Russia Speaks On Endgame For Ukraine Conflict at the UN!

Speaking at a briefing at the UN Security Council, the envoy commented on a possible path for ending the hostilities between the two sides. The opportunity to settle the conflict “will only present itself once Ukraine stops posing a threat to Russia and discriminating against Russian-speaking Ukrainians,” he said.

The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, has called on the forces of both Russia and Ukraine to cease hostilities in the run-up to and during Christmas. Both Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox faithful traditionally celebrate the holiday on January 7.

In a statement on Wednesday, Patriarch Kirill addressed to “all parties embroiled in internal strife…an appeal to cease fire and establish a Christmas truce from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7.”

The purpose of the ceasefire would be to enable the Orthodox faithful “to attend services on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day,” Kirill stated.

Zelensky Finds Excuse to Reject Christmas Ceasefire

The Christmas cessation of hostilities offered by Moscow was merely a ruse to improve Moscow’s standing on the battlefield, Zelensky claimed - calling on Russians to overthrow their govt instead.

In a video message to Ukrainians, Zelensky said he had offered a “peace plan” to Moscow in December, starting with the withdrawal of all Russian troops from territories claimed by Kiev..

Unilateral ceasefire ordered by Putin comes into force in Ukraine

A brief ceasefire between the warring sides in Ukraine ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Christmas Eve took effect early on Friday, Russian state television said, marking the first pause in the protracted war. 

"At noon today, the ceasefire regime came into force on the entire contact line," Russia's state-run First Channel announced on Friday, saying the truce will continue until the end of January 7.

The ceasefire order came on Thursday following an appeal by Patriarch Kirill, the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church. Russia will be observing the truce for 36 hours, from 12:00 local time (0900 GMT) on January 6 until midnight on January 7, a report in state-owned RT said.

“We call upon the Ukrainian side to proclaim a cessation of hostilities and give them [Orthodox Christians] the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day,” read a Kremlin statement.

This is while Ukrainian and Russian troops continued to attack each other’s positions in eastern Ukraine, according to reports.

The Russian truce has been rejected by Kiev, with officials there calling the move “hypocritical".
