Volkswagen eyes more cooperation opportunities in China?

Volkswagen eyes more cooperation opportunities in China.
Xinhua | Updated: 2023-02-02 14:50

CHANGCHUN - China is the most important market for Volkswagen, and the company will seek more cooperation opportunities in the country in the future, Oliver Blume, chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

In 2022, Volkswagen delivered more than 3.18 million vehicles in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong markets. Among them, 206,500 new-energy vehicles were delivered, up 37.1 percent year-on-year, with the delivery of pure electric models up 68.2 percent year-on-year.

"We have a strong product lineup in China, such as Audi and Porsche, and we hope to continue expanding our product lineup, taking advantage of new technologies and developing new products," Blume said.

Volkswagen has several partners in China, including China FAW Group Co Ltd, founded in 1953 in the northeastern city of Changchun, capital of Jilin province and regarded as the cradle of China's auto industry.

In recent years, Jilin has been actively developing the auto industry clusters to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the industry. According to the provincial government's latest plan, the scale of Jilin's auto industry is expected to reach one trillion yuan ($148.96 billion) by 2025.

"We have had very successful cooperation with FAW Group over the past 30 years, and we will continue working hard and cooperating sincerely in the future," said Blume.

In 2022, FAW Group achieved vehicle sales of 3.2 million units, with operating revenue hitting 630 billion yuan and profits topping 49 billion yuan.

Last November, Blume visited China with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and held important meetings with Chinese government officials to discuss future cooperation.

After the Spring Festival holiday, he scheduled another trip to China, visiting the cities of Changchun, Shanghai and Hefei this week. He hopes to gain a better understanding of the market and frontier technologies, and to gain new potential partners in the country.

In Blume's view, it is not only the Chinese market that they find very important, but also the cooperation opportunities in China, especially in the high-tech and electric transformation sectors. At the end of last year, Volkswagen announced its partnership with Chinese automotive chip company Horizon Robotics.

"Such partnerships will become more and more important in the future, and working with partners will help us integrate into Chinese society more deeply," said Blume.

In recent years, new-energy vehicles have been expanding their market share in China. Data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows that China's new-energy vehicle production and sales reached nearly 7.06 million units and 6.89 million units, respectively, in 2022.

Blume said that in the next few years, Volkswagen will maintain its success in the fuel car market while focusing on the pure electric vehicle market in China.

Blume is also bullish about the Chinese economy in 2023. "The market situation will continue to change this year, and China will maintain positive growth. Especially in the second half of the year, the market will recover more strongly," he said.

Tanks for Ukraine

Olaf Scholz Addresses German Parliament About The Proposal To Send Leopard 2 Tanks To Ukraine

“We are going to train Ukrainian troops how to use these tanks, and we are also going to train engineers how to maintain and repair these tanks,” the German chancellor told the Bundestag.

Training could begin as early as late January, the Bundeswehr reported.

Should Washington Supply Abrams Tanks To Ukraine, Russia Will Destroy Them  — Diplomat

26 Jan 2023 Russia’s Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, has said that M1 Abrams tanks and other NATO weapons will be destroyed should they be shipped to Ukraine.

He added that if the US did supply these weapons to Kiev, it would be a blatant provocation against Moscow.

“No one should have any illusions who is the real aggressor in the current conflict,” Antonov said in a statement released by the Russian Embassy in Washington’s press service.

Europe Planned ‘War Against Russia’ — Moscow

26 Jan 2023 - Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that Europe has plotted ongoing war against Moscow.

Her comment is about the admission from Germany’s top diplomat Annalena Baerbock, who said the EU was “fighting a war against Russia.”

Zakharova also recalls former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s claims that the Minsk treaty of 2014 for war-torn Ukraine was used as a pretext to militarize Kiev.

Unions in France and the U.K. Strike Against Government Austerity Demands

Jan. 19, 2023 (EIRNS)—An estimated one million French citizens took to the streets today to protest the Macron government’s proposed pension reform, which, among other provisions, would raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. The strike paralyzed public services, transportation, and railroads, and shut down schools in cities and towns across France.

Today’s action is only the first of several planned for coming days, with the backing of all eight of France’s union federations. Another strike has been announced for Jan. 31, but there is talk of protests before then, on Jan. 23, when the pension reform is to be presented to the Council of Ministers. Oil refinery workers also are planning a strike, either at the end of January or the beginning of February.

In the U.K., tens of thousands of nurses, affecting 55 National Health Service (NHS) hospitals across the country, began a 48-hour strike yesterday to demand higher pay. On Feb. 6, nurses will strike again, this time with ambulance drivers. The Royal College of Nurses (RCN) has been demanding a 17.9% wage increase to compensate for the fact that the salary of an experienced nurse has collapsed by 20% since 2010.

Hospitals are understaffed already, and many nurses are leaving the profession, due to the terrible working conditions. But the government of conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak demands that nurses accept an April 2022 deal of a 1,400-pound annual pay increase, which amounts to about a 4% pay hike—while inflation stands at 14%.

As a sign of good will, the RCN recently lowered its pay increase proposal to just 10% to urge the government to come to the negotiating table. Health Secretary Steve Barclay responded that there is no money for any additional pay increase, but then proposed to audit the NHS’s already bare bones budget to see what might be cut to come up with 2-3 billion pounds to cover a 2022-2023 salary deal. The Sunak government is also moving forward with draconian anti-strike legislation. [crr]

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel interview with Zeit.

"The 2014 Minsk agreements were an attempt to buy time for Ukraine," former German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted in her interview with Zeit.

According to her, Ukraine "also used this time to become stronger".

"Ukraine in 2014/15 and Ukraine today are not the same. As you can see by the battle for Debaltsevo, in early 2015 Putin could have easily taken them over. And I very much doubt that NATO countries could have done then as much as they do today to help Ukraine," the former chancellor said.

According to Merkel, "the Cold War has never ended because Russia has not been pacified".

"NATO has also deployed troops in the Baltic states, in order to show that we, as NATO, are ready for defence," she added.

Germany should have "reacted more quickly to Russia's aggressiveness", as Berlin's military budget never reached 2 per cent of GDP, Merkel concluded.

Remember that Germany was the guarantor for the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but at the end of the day, we see that the Western countries did not even plan to guarantee that implementation, their only goals were to buy time and to pump Ukraine with their agents, weapons and Nazi ideology.

It's the typical activity of western politicians, but surely deceiving Russia in this matter will cost them dearly. Ironically, Germany is now suffering colossal losses from the war in every aspect.

RUSSIA MFA REACTION, Merkel comes through for Russia once again

Merkel’s ‘confession’ may be grounds for tribunal – Moscow

The former chancellor gave evidence that the West had orchestrated hostilities in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry says

A confession by former German chancellor Angela Merkel about the Minsk peace agreements could be used as evidence in a tribunal involving Western politicians responsible for provoking the Ukraine conflict between Moscow and Kiev, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday.

The deal, brokered by Germany and France, was supposed to be a roadmap for peace in the war-torn country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his country's current military offensive was prompted by the failure to implement the terms of the accords.

The former German leader admitted in an interview with Die Zeit on Wednesday that the actual purpose of the Minsk agreements was to give Ukraine time to prepare for a military confrontation with Russia.

“They talk a lot about legal assessments of what is happening around Ukraine, certain tribunals and so on in all sorts of ways,” Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during a media briefing on Thursday. “But this is a specific reason for a tribunal.”

She claimed that Merkel’s comments were nothing short of the testimony of a person who had openly admitted that everything done between 2014 and 2015 was meant to “distract the international community from real issues, play for time, pump up the Kiev regime with weapons, and escalate the issue into a large-scale conflict,” Zakharova added.

She said Merkel’s statements “horrifyingly” reveal that the West uses “forgery as a method of action,” and resorts to “machinations, manipulation and all kinds of distortions of truth, law and rights imaginable.”

The spokeswoman claimed that the West had known well in 2015, when it spent hours negotiating the second part of the Minsk accords, that it would never even attempt to fulfill any part of the agreements and would instead pump weapons into Kiev.

DEC 11, Putin on Merkel's words about Minsk agreements:

To be honest, it was absolutely unexpected for me. It's disappointing. Frankly speaking, I did not expect to hear this from the former chancellor, because I have always assumed that the German leadership behaves sincerely with us. Yes, of course, it was on the side of Ukraine, supported it, but it still seemed to me that the German leadership has always sincerely sought a settlement on the principles that we agreed on, within the framework of the Minsk process.

This only shows that launching the SMO was the right decision. It turns out that no one was going to fulfill these Minsk agreements. The point was only to pump Ukraine with weapons and prepare for combat operations. Maybe we should have started all this earlier.

Trust almost dropped to 0. How to negotiate? About what? And is it possible to negotiate with them? Where are the guarantees? I have said many times that we are ready to sign agreements, but this makes us think about who we are dealing with.

THE NEW PRINCIPLES - Dmitry Medvedev

The "new principles" concept recently inked by Dmitry Medvedev come directly from Vladimir Putin commentary on Angela Merkel confession about the misleading nature of Misnk Agreements.

Merkel basically admitted that the agreements were made in order to give Ukraine some time to build the military strength and accumulate amo for the future assault on Donbass and Russia.

Vladimir Putin concluded that this was an unexpected  and dirty trick.

"Just how would we be able to come to any agreements in the future? What kind of guarantees would we have?

Honestly, I didn't expect this.

It is now perfectly clear that we have acted on time and made the only right choice by starting the SMO and  preventing the major assault on us that was being prepared during the last years."

He continued:

"Our nuclear doctrine implies that in case we are attacked we will use strategic nuclear weapons in our defense. But in the view of the last events we might just use some "new principles".

Withholding 300 billion euros of Russia's gold and foreign exchange reserves

The European Union wants to withhold 300 billion euros from Russia until the country itself wants to give them for the "voluntary restoration of Ukraine" — another absurd trick of Kiev was voiced by Reynders

The European Commissioner for Justice and the Rule of Law, Didier Reynders, believes that Moscow's frozen gold and foreign exchange reserves of 300 billion euros allegedly need to be preserved as a guarantee of Russia's restoration of Ukraine.

"From my point of view, they can be maintained at least until Russia voluntarily participates in the restoration," the European Commissioner said.

The goal of the EU is not to freeze (https://t.me/azmilitary11/26674), but to confiscate Russian assets in Europe, we have a task force called "Capture and Freeze".- von der Leyen-unelected corruptocract, autocrat and cleptoman(The "EU garden" do what it does best for centuries...Rob everyone...This is just more evidence to that...As infinite evidences before were seen, this is just one more...)

The goal of the EU is not to freeze, but to confiscate Russian assets in Europe, but for this it is necessary to prepare a legal framework.

Ukraine Proper Already in 1654 Opted for Russia

A throwback to the Westphalian Agreement

Westphalian sovereignty, or state sovereignty, is a principle in international law that each state has exclusive sovereignty over its territory. The principle underlies the modern international system of sovereign states and is enshrined in the United Nations Charter, which states that "nothing ... shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state."[1] According to the idea, every state, no matter how large or small, has an equal right to sovereignty.[2] Political scientists have traced the concept to the Peace of Westphalia (1648), which ended the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) and Eighty Years' War (1568–1648). The principle of non-interference was further developed in the 18th century. The Westphalian system reached its peak in the 19th and 20th centuries, but it has faced recent challenges from advocates of humanitarian intervention.

Ukraine

From the current perspective of the Ukrainian crisis and in general from the point of solving the “Ukrainian Question” it has to be noticed a very historical fact that a part of present-day East Ukraine became legally incorporated into the Russian Empire in 1654 as a consequence of the decision by the local hetman of Zaporozhian territory Bohdan Khmelnytsky (c. 1595−1657) based on a popular revolt against the Polish-Lithuanian (the Roman Catholic) occupation of Ukraine which broke out in 1648 [Alfredas Bumblauskas, Senosios Lietuvos istorija, 1009−1795, Vilnius: R. Paknio leidykla, 2007, 306; Jevgenij Anisimov, Rusijos istorija nuo Riuriko iki Putino: Žmonės. Įvykiai. Datos, Vilnius: Mokslo ir enciklopedijų leidybos centras, 2014, 185−186]. It means that the core of present-day Ukraine (Ukraine proper) voluntarily joined Russia, therefore escaping from the Roman Catholic Polish-Lithuanian oppression. Subsequently, B. Khmelnytsky’s ruled territory has to be considered from a historical point of view as the motherland of all present-day Ukraine – the motherland which already in 1654 chose Russia.

US was planning a war in Ukraine and an energy crisis in Europe.

 https://www.rand.org/news/press/2019/04/24.html

IN 2019, there  was already planned to undermine Russia. Just how long before have they started the strategies?👇

The report examines a range of nonviolent measures the United States could take to stress Russia's military, its economy or the regime's political standing at home and abroad.

The steps would be designed to cause Russia to compete in domains or regions where the United States has a competitive advantage—driving Russia to overextend itself militarily or economically or causing the regime to lose domestic and/or international prestige and influence, said James Dobbins, lead author of the study and a senior fellow at RAND, a non profit research organization.

Russia's greatest vulnerability is its economy, which is comparatively small and highly dependent on energy exports. The Russian leadership's greatest anxiety concerns the stability and durability of the regime.

The most promising strategies to stress Russia are those which directly address those vulnerabilities and anxieties. Dobbins, a former Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, and his RAND colleagues evaluate a wide range of possibilities. These include economic pressures, ideological and informational initiatives, geopolitical maneuvers, and military steps on land, sea, and in air and space.

Economic sanctions have already caused a significant drop in the living standards of many Russian citizens. Expanding American energy production is probably the least costly and least risky way to further stress the Russian economy. Imposing tougher sanctions is also likely to degrade the Russian economy, and could do so to a greater extent and more quickly than maintaining low oil prices, provided the sanctions are comprehensive and multilateral.

>>>>>>>

The Swedish edition Nya Dagbladet writes that the US was planning a war in Ukraine and an energy crisis in Europe. This is evidenced by a report leaked to the Swedish press by the pro-government think tank RAND Corporation (known, among other things, for being behind the American foreign and defense strategy during the Cold War).

For example, the document, dated January, admits that the aggressive foreign policy pursued in Ukraine will push Russia to military intervention in the country. The goal, the report explains, is to introduce a package of sanctions that has been in the making for a long time.

The EU economy will "inevitably collapse" as a result, and resources of up to $9 trillion could flow to the US, as well as educated European young people will be forced to emigrate to the States.

The main goal, which is described in the document, is to split Europe - especially Germany and the Russian Federation, forcing "useful idiots in politics" to stop Russian energy supplies to the continent. The fact is that, according to RAND, the growing independence of Germany made it difficult for the United States to influence the decisions of European governments. And, if the plan had not been implemented, Europe would have become not only an economic, but also a political competitor of the United States.

“The only possible way to ensure that Germany refuses the supply of Russian energy is to involve both sides in a military conflict in Ukraine. Our continued actions in this country will inevitably lead to a military response from Russia. Russia is clearly not going to leave the massive pressure of the Ukrainian army on Republic of Donbass without a military response. This would make it possible to present Russia as an aggressor, and then apply the entire package of sanctions that has already been prepared," the document says.

Notably, RAND, in turn, issued a press release denying that the report was written by them, succinctly noting that they consider its content "weird".

𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁'𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲

Since February 2022, Ukraine has almost completely switched to the financial, logistical and military support of the West.

From February 24 to October 3, 2022, Ukraine received 6.7 billion euros of financial support and loan guarantees from international institutions, where only 1 billion from the IMF and the rest from the World Bank. Also, 38.1 billion euros of financial support from Ukraine's donor countries was agreed.

A total of 19 countries have allocated financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 38.6 billion euros.

The largest financial assistance package from the USA is 15.2 billion, within the framework of the collective agreement of the EC - 12.3 billion, from the UK - 2.5 billion, other countries - 8 billion, where 3 countries allocated more than 1 billion (Canada - 1.8 billion, Germany - 1.1 billion and Norway - 1 billion).

In the structure of Ukraine's financial support: 17.3 billion are loans, 18.2 billion are grants (gratuitous aid and subsidies) and 3.2 billion are loan guarantees. Almost all gratuitous aid was provided by the United States (14.4 billion), while Europe mainly issues long-term loans at low rates.

This data is from IEF Kiel.

Of the total amount of financial assistance, about 17 billion euros actually reached Ukraine, plus 6.7 billion from international institutions.

How much is it? Last year, Ukraine's consolidated budget revenues amounted to $75 billion, this year about $40 billion.

If synchronized by the time of actual receipt of assistance, external support exceeds 100% of the internal revenues of the consolidated budget of Ukraine.

To this is added humanitarian aid with an estimated volume of 14.4 billion euros, of which from the USA 9.5 billion, the EC - 1.4 billion, Germany - 1 billion, Austria - 0.6 billion, Great Britain - 0.4 billion, Canada - 0.3 billion, other 33 countries - 1.3 billion .

Humanitarian plus approved financial assistance for the approval period (slightly more than 7 months) is 60 billion (on average 8.6 billion per month), which is 𝟮.𝟲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 than budget revenues.

Russia's neighboring countries have denied reports of a "mass departure" of Russians.

Sept 24, 2022 - The checkpoints are operating normally.

Georgia. The Tax Service informs that over the past 10 days there has been no sharp increase in the flow of people entering and leaving the country at the Kazbegi checkpoint.

Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic officially denied the reports of some media about the "mass migration" of Russians.

"This year, about 1 million 660 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation entered Kazakhstan, and 1 million 640 thousand left," the head of the migration service said.

Finland. According to the Finnish border service, 4,400 Russians entered the country on September 21, and 5,950 Russians on September 22. At the same time, on the previous days of this week, there were an average of about 2,900 arrivals.

However, if we take earlier dates, then from September 15 to September 21, about 4,000 Russians entered Finland per day. And in August, the values were even higher. That is, there is no noticeable growth, the average figures have approximately remained.

A small increase in the number of tourists from the Russian Federation could arise against the background of reports about the imminent ban on entry to Finland for Russians. As it has already been banned by the Baltic states.

Mongolia. The country's Foreign Ministry also denied reports by some Western media that there are allegedly queues of Russians trying to evade mobilization at border crossings with the Russian Federation.

"To date, the Altanbulag border crossing of the Selenga Aimag (region) is operating normally. There are no queues," the ministry said.

Serbia Accuses West of Double Standards

Western countries have failed to explain their hypocrisy over Ukraine and Serbia’s territorial integrity, given that they support Kiev in its fight against Russia, but endorsed Kosovo’s independence, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday.

“What is the difference between the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, which was grossly violated?” Vucic asked, referring to the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

According to Vucic, Serbia “has never [set] foot” on anybody’s territory, but this “did not prevent the 19 richest NATO countries from attacking a sovereign country without a decision by the UN Security Council.”

NATO occupied Kosovo in 1999, after a 78-day bombing campaign against what was then Yugoslavia, before declaring independence in 2008 with Western support. While the US and most of its allies recognize, many other countries, including Russia and China, do not.

Germany’s Energy Suicide: An Autopsy

The EU has weaponized the supply of European energy on behalf of a financial racket, against the interests of European industry and consumers.

- By Pepe Escobar.

When Green fanatic Robert Habeck, posing as Germany’s Economy Minister, said earlier this week “we should expect the worst” in terms of energy security, he conveniently forgot to spell out how the whole farce is a Made in Germany cum Made in Brussels crisis.

Flickers of intelligence at least still glow in rare Western latitudes, as indispensable strategic analyst William Engdahl, author of A Century of Oil, released a sharp, concise summary  revealing the skeletons in the glamour closet.

Everyone with a brain following the ghastly Eurocrat machinations in Brussels was aware of the main plot – yet hardly anyone among average EU citizens. Habeck, Chancellor “Liver Sausage” Scholz, the European Commission (EC) Green Energy VP Timmermans, EC dominatrix Ursula von der Leyen, they are all involved.

In a nutshell: as Engdahl describes it, this is about “the EU plan to de-industrialize one of the most energy-efficient industrial concentrations on the planet.”

That’s a practical translation of the UN Green Agenda 2030 – which happens to be metastasized into crypto Bond villain Klaus Schwab’s Great Reset – now renamed “Great Narrative”.

The whole scam started way back in the early 2000s: I remember it vividly, as Brussels used to be my European base in the early “war on terror” years.

At the time, the talk of the town was the “European energy policy”. The dirty secret of such policy is that the EC, “ advised” by JP MorganChase as well as the usual mega speculative hedge funds, went all out into what Engdahl describes as “a complete deregulation of the European market for natural gas.”

That was sold to the Lugenpresse (“lying media”) as “liberalization”. In practice, that’s savage, unregulated casino capitalism, with the “free” market fixing prices while dumping long-term contracts – such as the ones struck with Gazprom.

How to decarbonize and destabilize

The process was turbo-charged in 2016, when the last gasp of the Obama administration encouraged massive export of LNG out of the U.S.’s huge shale gas production.
