There is no good in much of their secret conferences save (in) whosoever enjoineth charity and fairness and peace-making among the people and whoso doeth that, seeking the good pleasure of God, We shall bestow on him a vast reward.

Free John Walker Lindh, (American Taliban) Scapegoat of the “War on Terror”.

With the death of Osama bin Laden, there is now an opportunity for a huge peace dividend — an end to the occupation of Afghanistan, and an opportunity to close Guantánamo — which will probably not happen, even though it should, because of powerful vested interests. These include the lawmakers intent on using bin Laden’s death as an excuse to further ramp up the “War on Terror” by revising the Authorization for Use of Military Force, the founding document of the phoney war, and to claim, in spite of all the evidence, that George W. Bush’s torture program was a good idea and helped to track down bin Laden (which it didn’t), and that Guantánamo was useful for producing reliable intelligence (which it wasn’t).

I tackled all of these dangerous lies and distortions in my articles,With Osama bin Laden’s Death, the Time for US Vengeance Is Over,Osama bin Laden’s Death, and the Unjustifiable Defense of Torture and Guantánamo and No End to the “War on Terror,” No End to Guantánamo, but although I also implied that it was ridiculous to continue holding people at Guantánamo whose only crime seems to have been that they saw Osama bin Laden from afar while attending a training camp in Afghanistan, what I didn’t reflect on directly were specific victims of the hysteria of the “War on Terror.”

Is Pakistan Being Cast as the Next Plausible Evil Doer?

by: Jeff Gates
Conspiracy theorists assure us that Osama bin Laden was killed in December 2001 and his body put on ice in—of course—an undisclosed location. If the recent killing of bin Laden was a lie, who were the liars? All 79 members of SEAL Team 6, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. State Department, the White House and 16 U.S. intelligence agencies. All conspired to have us believe that he was killed in Pakistan.
“Who you gonna believe,” the theorists ask, “me or your lyin’ eyes?”
The killing or capture of Osama bin Laden was a strategic imperative of the Obama presidency. His death on Pakistani soil now presents a challenge to the strategic depth required for security and stability in the region. How, under these circumstances, does the U.S. collaborate with a nation given $20 billion since 911?
To date, the clash between the U.S. and Pakistan has been the focus of mainstream news. Little has been said about the loss of 30,000 Pakistani lives to the war on terrorism. That human toll includes a sharp upswing in deadly attacks since the November 2008 assault in India where Islamic extremists, trained in Pakistan, left 174 dead in Mumbai. Pakistan was portrayed as guilty—by association.

Foreign Minister Nabil Al Arabi of Egypt was elected as the new secretary general of the Arab League on Sunday after last minute diplomacy left him as the only candidate in the race.

Shortly before the vote, Egypt replaced its original candidate Mustafa el-Fiqqi, who was a member of ousted president Hosni Mubarak’s ruling party.

Qatar had nominated Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad al-Attiyah, who served as the head of the Gulf Cooperation Council. With both Mr. Fiqqi and Mr. Attiyah lacking consensus, their candidacies were withdrawn and the 76-year-old Mr. Arabi was nominated as a sole runner for the post.

The choice for head of the Arab League traditionally is agreed in advance, but this year, Egypt and Qatar both nominated candidates.

Mr. Elaraby, nominated shortly before foreign ministers were due to meet in Cairo on Sunday, will take over from Amr Moussa, another former Egyptian foreign minister who led the 22-nation Cairo-based body for 10 years. Mr. Moussa is expected to contest the Egyptian presidential election in September.

Predator Drones Strike with “Incredible Accuracy” – over 957 Pakistanis killed in 2010.

Over 957 extra-judicially killed and over 383 injured in 134 drone attacks launched by the US in the tribal areas of Pakistan in 2010. What remains unclear is who the greatly “accurate” drones are targeting. After all, earlier this month the US Predator Drone successfully engaged another of its targets – but it just so happened that the victims were two Americans.
Predator Drones Strike with “Incredible Accuracy” – over 957 Pakistanis killed in 2010Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Findings
The independent and most prominent human rights organisation in the country, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), released its 2010 annual report in which extrajudicial killings of tribal Pakistanis by the US government do not go unnoticed.
In 2010 alone the US has killed in excess of 957 without accountability and injured hundreds more in the tribal region of Pakistan. And this is only from the 134 drone strikes that the media managed to report.
It is known that that innocent people, including women and children, are routinely among the victims of the United States’ “ill-defined licence to kill without accountability” (UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions, Philip Aston, referring to drone attacks). But this is a puzzling reality since the drones arehailed as being “capable of incredible accuracy” once a target is locked-on. Assuming this is the case, the cause of the furore over the use of drones must lie outside the issue of its accuracy.

AMERICAN ERROR: AFGHANISTAN SUFFERS BECAUSE OF MISGUIDED TERROR POLICY.

“Bin Laden, with his wives and followers, flew to Jalalabad on an  official plane provided by the then Afghan president, Burhanuddin Rabbani, who remains an associate of the current president, Hamid Karzai, as chairman of the high peace council”
  By Hanan Habibzai,STAFF WRITER
Finally, Bin Laden the most wanted man has been killed and the news is being celebrated across the United States, the news Americans were waiting for teen  years. In fact, this is the biggest news in the world I have heard in the last decade.
At last, he was found in a non-Pashtun area in a small town which president Obama refers to as ‘deep inside Pakistan’, in a region where there is the key military academy of the Pakistan army surounded the city.
His presence in Pakistan is not a surprise because many Al Qaida members, such as Khalid Shiekh and Al-libey and number of others previously arrested or killed in that country. This makes it clear that Al Qaida is not in Afghanistan but in Pakistan.
Bin Laden was a priority in American military invasion of Afghanistan, for that priority thousands of Afghan civilians have been killed during the operations. The civilian casualties since late 2001 in Afghanistan may be three times higher than those of 9/11. The same may be the case with the financial losses.
Nearly 3000s innocent men, women and children were killed in a catastrophic attack on world trade centres on 11th September 2001. This hurts anyone who believes in peace, harmony and human dignity, as president Obama added.
The hunt for Osama resulted in the invasion of Afghanistan and toppling of the Taliban regime. After the fall of Taliban, the military struggle to capture Bin Laden and his friends moved to the villages of Afghanistan where he actually did not exist at all.
US-led troops were saying that they are in Afghanistan because Al Qaida is hiding in the country, but today it has been proven that the killing and blaming of Afghans as supporters of Al Qaida was an incorrect analysis for which Afghans witnessed their sweethearts being killed or tortured.
