But it grew into one hell of a regime change exercise, which saw the installation of an unpopular regime of Hamid Karzai and the murders of thousands Iraqi civilians mostly women and children. Led by the US army and military contractors (read mercenaries), hundreds of thousands of US and NATO troops poured into Afghanistan to subdued the people of Afghanistan into accepting the Karzai regime. Empire strikes forward: US, NATO gather largest offensive in years:
RussiaToday reports : America is set to ask its NATO allies to send thousands of extra personnel to train Afghanistan's new army and police force. The U.S. says the aim is to stabilise the troubled country, but at the same time is planning to launch the biggest offensive since entering eight years ago. Defence ministers from NATO member nations, are meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The U.S. wants around four thousand extra troops from them, on top of the nine thousand already pledged. America is sending 30 thousand extra combat troops of its own. But locals fear more troops will mean more Taliban attacks. More civilians lives will definitely be lost.
Terror Trial - "the mastermind of 911" in America.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was an alleged member of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda organization, although he lived in Kuwait rather than Afghanistan, heading al-Qaeda's propaganda operations from sometime around 1999. The 9/11 Commission Report alleges that he was "the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks." He is also alleged to have confessed to a role in many of the most significant terrorist plots over the last twenty years, including the World Trade Center 1993 bombings, the Operation Bojinka plot, an aborted 2002 attack on the U.S. Bank Tower in Los Angeles, the Bali nightclub bombings, the failed bombing of American Airlines Flight 63, the Millennium Plot, and the murder of Daniel Pearl.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was captured in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on March 1, 2003, by the Pakistani ISI, possibly in a joint action with agents of the American Diplomatic Security Service, and has been in U.S. custody since that time. In September 2006, the U.S. government announced it had moved Mohammed from a secret prison to the facility at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The Red Cross, Human Rights Watch and Mohammed have claimed that the harsh treatment and waterboarding he received from U.S. authorities, amounts to torture. (wikipedia)
A trial will soon take place in America. In the American's efforts to come to this level of conclusions and collections of all necessary evidences,it is apt to say that many have fallen victims, in the process. It is important the no more unnecessary lives be shed. And it is only right for all the forces in Afghanistan to be withdrawn. Stop terrorizing the Afghan civilians! Stop it now. The foreigners have imposed wars in Afghanistan, now they want to impose peace via the London Conference - with a military surge and lots of money! Stop playing with the lives of the Afghans and let the Afghans settled their differences by themselves, along the lines of the democratic principles - the invading foreigners held high, self determination.
