Targeting Iran's livelihood, what prospects?

Uploaded by FeloniousVendetta on 27 Dec 2011 - Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, the only sea passage for oil shipments from the Persian Gulf if the West places sanctions on the country's oil exports. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Iran's vice president Mohammad-Reza Rahimi and aired on state television.

"If they (the West) impose sanctions on Iran's oil exports, then even one drop of oil cannot flow from the Strait of Hormuz," he said. This comes as Iran is continuing the ten-day naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz. Early reports of these maneuvers raised fears that the country might shut down the strait. The announcement proves these concerns were not groundless.

What's up in the Knesset?

Published on 26 Dec 2011 by Euronews - The Knesset is debating whether to recognise Armenian claims of genocide in a move likely to further strain Israel's tense ties with Turkey.
A parliamentary committee is discussing proposals to create a memorial day to mark the mass killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915.Ankara rejects the 'genocide' tag.

What's Sarkozy agenda by criminalizing Turkey?

France going to criminalize deniers of Armenian genocide?
Will there be attempts to criminalize deniers of 911 too?
The Turks' action: had called their ambassador home & economic sanctions may follow soon?

Iran begins 10-day military drills in Strait of Hormuz

Uploaded by cctvnewschannel on 25 Dec 2011 - Iran has kicked off 10 days of naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz. Concerns are now being raised over a possible closure of the world's most strategic oil transit channel in the event of an outbreak of military conflict between Tehran and the West. Drills on one of the busiest straits in the world. The military drills, dubbed "Velayat-e 90", comes as tension between the West and Iran is escalating over Iran's nuclear program. Israel and the United States have not ruled out military action if diplomacy and sanctions fail to rein in Iran's nuclear ambitions. Some diplomats believe the Islamic Republic could attempt to block the strait in the event of a war with the West over suspicions it is seeking to build atom bombs.

UK implicated in Afghanistan drug trade.

British forces in war-battered Afghanistan (file photo)

Thu Dec 15, 2011 | A senior Afghan official has accused Britain of involvement in illicit narcotics trade in Afghanistan, Press TV reports.

"There are documents and evidence that show that British forces in [Afghanistan's] Helmand Province not only did nothing to prevent the illicit drug trade, but in some cases also took part in it," Yousef-Ali Vaezi, an advisor to Afghan President Hamid Karzai, told Press TV on Thursday.

"They cooperated in the cultivation, production, and trafficking of drugs," he added.

He also said that the restrictive conditions brought in the declaration of the national gathering of Afghan tribal leaders -- the Loya Jirga -- which was recently held to discuss long-term security agreement with the US, were still valid.

Based on the conditions, Vaezi said, the US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan would not be granted immunity from prosecution.

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday the United States has vacated the Shamsi airbase within the time limit given to it, according to the APP, a government-run news agency in Pakistan.
In an interview with the BBC Urdu service, the Prime Minister said now the Shamsi airbase is under the control of Pakistani forces.
Earlier on Sunday local media reported that the last flight has taken away the U.S. personnel and equipment from the Shamsi airbase, marking a complete withdrawal of the U.S. from the airbase, which is demanded by the Pakistani government following the November 26 NATO air strike on two border check points that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
A spokesman with the Inter-Services Public Relations, a mouthpiece of the Pakistani army, confirmed the report and said that the army has taken over the Shamsi airbase.
Located some 320 kilometers southwest of Quetta, capital of Balochistan province in southwest Pakistan, the Shamsi airbase has reportedly been used by the U.S. since 2001 for launching military operations in Afghanistan and drone strikes in Pakistan's northwest tribal areas.

Turkey dilemma with UE.

They NUKE Libya too!

US AND CLIENT STATES USED WMD ON LIBYA

07/dec/11

By Peter Eyre

We heard Cameron and Hague state firmly the action that had taken place and the reasons behind that action which they said was primarily on humanitarian grounds!

What we in the UK did not understand was the fact that the final outcome was nothing to do with saving lives but rather to get their hands on Libya's vast lucrative natural resources. The entire campaign became a total blood bath that would leave over 50,000 dead and many many thousands of innocent Libyan civilians would become contaminated with radiation from the weapons used by the coalition forces. The active use of Weapons of Mass Destruction's (WMD) has basically killed the genetics of Libya, adjacent countries and the world beyond by it's over excessive use of depleted uranium weapons.

Blackwater Name Change again:

To Academi From Xe
Blackwater Name Change
In this July 28, 2008 file photo, Blackwater Worldwide's headquarters is seen in Moyock, N.C.
An infamous company is attempting a complete brand makeover -- again.

The private security firm formerly known as Blackwater and most recently known as Xe has decided to change its name to Academi, according to The Washington Post.

Blackwater changed its name to Xe in 2009, ostensibly to distance itself from its dark past -- five of its employees were indicted for charges related to a 2007 shooting in Iraq that killed 17 unarmed Iraqi civilians, according to Time.

Apparently the first switch didn't help the firm's image problem; the State Department opted not to renew its contract with the firm in May 2009, also according to Time.

Still, Ted Wright, the company's CEO insists that the latest name change isn't simply a PR move. Instead, Wright told WaPo it indicates a shift in the firm's ownership and leadership.

Iran delivers major blow to the CIA

Asia Times
Thursday, Dec 1, 2011

Iran's claim last week to have arrested 12 spies working for the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is potentially a major blow to American intelligence-gathering efforts in Iran and to American intelligence generally. The arrests come on the heels of the arrest of 30 alleged CIA spies in late May and are indicative of steadily improving counter-intelligence capabilities.

The recent success is reinforced by the unraveling of a CIA spy ring in Lebanon operating within the Hezbollah organization. These reports have been grudgingly confirmed by current and former US intelligence officials, which is suggestive of a major American intelligence defeat, if not a full-blown disaster.

Recent Hezbollah counter-intelligence successes against Israel and the US (in June, Hezbollah arrested two CIA spies operating inside the organization) are at least in part due to increased counter-intelligence assistance from Iran.

Asia Times Online sources in Tehran claim that Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) has been more willing in recent years to transfer sensitive counter-espionage know-how and techniques to both Hezbollah and the official Lebanese intelligence services.

A select group of Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip have undergone extensive military training recently in Iran, turning them into expert operators of sophisticated anti-tank missiles The IDF believes that Hamas and Islamic Jihad have obtained several hundred advanced Russian-made antitank missiles -- such as the Kornet and the Fagot -- which have a range of more than 4 kilometers and are capable of penetrating armored personnel carriers and some IDF tanks.
Terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip had a small number of these missiles ahead of Operation Cast Lead -- Israel's offensive against Hamas in 2009 -- but only used them in a handful of known instances. The anti-tank missiles are obtained by Hamas in several different ways. In some cases, they are purchased directly from Russia by Syria and are then transferred to Hamas or Hezbollah. In other cases, Hamas operatives buy the weaponry on the black market and then smuggle it into the Gaza Strip via the tunnels it maintains under the Philadelphi Corridor.
In face of threat, the IDF is moving forward with plans to install the Trophy active protection system on Merkava Mk 4 tanks that are in production ahead of their delivery to the 401st Armored Brigade. Two of the brigade's battalions have already received the system and the remaining battalion will finish receiving it by the beginning of 2012.
The Trophy system creates a hemispheric protected zone around armored vehicles such as the Merkava tank, which operate primarily in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Using advanced radar, the system is designed to detect and track a threat and counters it with a launched projectile that intercepts the anti-tank missile.

the "nuke policy of ambiguity".

WARNING Israel's nuclear weapons can now reach the UK :: from the US state dept mouth-piece? this vid was before AJE attained that status.

Uploaded by 91177info on Jun 9, 2010 - Israel refuses to allow inspections or sign the NPT which safeguards the sale of nuclear material. Is it safe to allow Israel to disregard UN laws especially after the Gaza Flotilla Massacre where they murdered humanitarian peace activists and the United States turns a blind eye? While Israel is one of the loudest voices calling for a tougher line on Iran's nuclear programme, its own nuclear capability has never been put to inspection. Israel has two nuclear research centres - at Dimona and Soreq.

The latest estimates suggest that Israel has produced at least 118 warheads with weapons grade plutonium. The Jericho ballistic missiles are capable of carrying such weapons. The Jericho One, which is now obsolete, had a range of 500 kilometres, and could carry a 20 kiloton nuclear warhead - 20 times more powerful than the US bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. The Jericho Two has a range of 1500 kilometres. It could just reach Iran - and is believed to be able to carry a one megaton nuclear bomb, which is 1,000 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. I

t is believed a Jericho Three missile is now being developed - that will be able to travel around 5,000 kilometres, bringing all of Iran and Europe into its range.

...and AJE still on it...

By Martin Iqbal.

It’s astonishing that Al-Jazeera can still refer to theNATO-backed, CIA-led, al-Qaeda linked ‘rebels’ as the ‘Libyan people’.  They continue to plug the tired old lie that the Libyan insurrection is a popular uprising, rather than a violent, foreign-linked and backed attempt at regime change.  This isn’t astonishing at all however, knowing what Al-Jazeera has been like from the start on this.
To see more of Al-Jazeera’s shameful warmongering, watch the following video report from them. The reporter expounds what is essentially a sales pitch for UK/French attack helicopters in Libya. When Western soldiers appear on camera, the reporter dismisses it in a blase fashion, rather than pointing out to his unquestioning audience the fact that their very presence is a breach of international law, and the very resolution that the UN purports to be upholding.

We note the non-homogeneous distribution based on faith within Malaysia - both in Peninsular Malaysia & East malaysia, under the jurisdiction of different state governments. This diversity demands tolerance in such a manner that "the tyranny of consensus" at Federal level does not infringe the local (state) aspirations and demands or prevent it.

While maintaining the letter & spirit of the Federal Constitution, a situation should be created and tailored to allow for local (state) aspirations and demands.

Thus, if it need be, all parties should be agreeable to correct and make good the present situation, to allow such a situation, where local aspirations and demands can be implemented and practiced. To realized this objective and end, it may involved ammending the constitution to accomodate local (state) aspirations and demands.

Targeting Muslims: Does Anyone Care?

Where's the outrage? Where's the concern? Where's the lawsuit? For the past month, the Associated Press (with an assist from NYPD Confidential) has spotlighted a secret NYPD spying operation that targets hundreds of Muslim mosques, schools, businesses, student groups, non-governmental organizations and individuals.

It seems no exaggeration to say that the NYPD has infiltrated every level of Muslim life in NYC. Last week, the AP described how the NYPD has spied on the city's Moroccan communities.

The police watched Moroccan restaurants, gyms, barbershops, meat markets and taxi companies -- and compiled a list of every known Moroccan taxi driver, the AP reported.

Dubbed the "The Moroccan Initiative," this police operation placed both Moroccan immigrants and Moroccan-Americans "under surveillance and scrutinized where they ate, prayed and worked, not because of charges of wrongdoing but because of their ethnicity," the AP said.

A World of Lawlessness and Chaos - As The Drone Flies

By Ralph Nader

September 28, 2011 "Information Clearing House--  The fast developing predator drone technology, officially called unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs, is becoming so dominant and so beyond any restraining framework of law or ethics, that its use by the U.S. government around the world may invite a horrific blowback.

First some background. The Pentagon has about 7,000 aerial drones. Ten years ago there were less than 50. According to the website longwarjournal.com, they have destroyed about 1900 insurgents in Pakistan’s tribal regions. How these fighters are so clearly distinguished from civilians in those mountain areas is not clear.

Nor is it clear how or from whom the government gets such “precise” information about the guerilla leaders’ whereabouts night and day. The drones are beyond any counterattack—flying often at 50,000 feet. But the Air Force has recognized that a third of the Predators have crashed by themselves.

Compared to mass transit, housing, energy technology, infection control, food and drug safety, the innovation in the world of drones is incredible. Coming soon are hummingbird sized drones, submersible drones and software driven autonomous UAVs. The Washington Post described these inventions as “aircraft [that] would hunt, identify and fire at [the] enemy—all on its own.” It is called “lethal autonomy” in the trade.

Military ethicists and legal experts inside and outside the government are debating how far UAVs can go and still stay within what one imaginative booster, Ronald C. Arkin, called international humanitarian law and the rules of engagement. Concerns over restraint can already be considered academic. Drones are going anywhere their governors want them to go already—Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and countries in North Africa to name a few known jurisdictions.

Israel and the Upcoming Nuclear War!

The total destruction of Israel, something used by the Zionist lobby to bilk the US out of billions for years, is no longer a dream, it is inevitable. The only question is "when?" With it a limited world war may emerge with some surprises in store. It all started long ago but we can focus back one year when Israel murdered 9 Turkish citizens in an act of piracy, peace activists on an aid ship heading for Gaza. Aid ships heading for Gaza now get a military escort from the Turkish Navy and Turkey's president is heading for Gaza and Egypt now, to slap Israel down.

US gives away billions in assets in Iraq

Will Iraq has to pay for this ?

US gives away billons in assets in Iraq
The United States Depart of Defense has found a nifty way of cutting costs in planning for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Rather than ship home millions of pieces of equipment from Americans bases abroad, the military is simply giving them away.
Nearly two-and-a-half million pieces of equipment, estimated at a cost of $250 million, have so far been given to the Iraqi government by the US military in the last year alone, reports The Huffington Post. As the DoD looks to empty out the bases that cost Americans billions of dollars towards erecting during the last decade, everything from air conditioning units to army tanks are being handed over to the foreign government in order to avoid the costly bill of shipping those supplies back to the States.
“It’s all sunk costs,” retired Army Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton tells HuffPo. “It’s money that we spent and we’re not going to recoup.”
Meanwhile, as the US hands over millions, they are scraping their pockets in order to make ends meet domestically. Yet again, the government is being posed with a possible shutdown in the days ahead, lest lawmakers find a way to balance their ledgers.
The United States spent over $2.4 billion on building posts in Iraq, reports the Congressional Research Service, and nearly $2 billion of that came from contracts with the US Army Corps of Engineer between 2004 and 2010 — and more than half of those deals were inked in 2005 alone.
While President Obama urges lawmakers to allow for the building up of America’s own infrastructure, it looks as if the country invested billions in the last decade overseas. Now that troops prepare to come home, however, all of that is being marked up as a loss.
